Weather advisories and public safety updates dominated online conversations from February 1 to 6, 2026, according to a social media scan by Capstone-Intel Corporation.

The monitoring period showed that Tropical Depression Basyang generated the highest engagement across platforms, driven largely by safety advisories and location-specific weather bulletins.

Local entertainment content particularly updates about Pinoy Big Brother (PBB) followed closely, while sports leagues, global music awards, and celebrity updates rounded out the Top 5 trending themes.

The data was compiled and analyzed by Capstone-Intel Corporation’s research team led by Ella Kristina Domingo.

The Basyang / Tropical Depression cluster recorded a combined Engagement Score (ES) of 664,293.5, accounting for approximately 50.5% of total monitored engagement and a total of 5,784 posts.

Content from DOST-PAGASA led the trend with 101,829.3 ES, followed by Manila Bulletin and GMA News.

Preparedness and safety action posts were widely reshared, reflecting strong public demand for fast, reliable updates during severe weather events.

According to Domingo public safety content tends to surge when posts answer urgent questions: “Where is the storm now? What areas are affected? What should we do?”

Entertainment ranked second overall, driven largely by Pinoy Big Brother content and updates involving actress-host Anne Curtis.

The PBB cluster recorded 283,037.1 ES, fueled by livestream reminders, housemate clips, and posts promoting the “Celebrity Collab Edition” with a total of 467 posts generated.

Meanwhile, Anne Curtis-related content recorded 50,132.7 ES, with posts highlighting birthday countdown buzz, appearances on It’s Showtime, Chinese New Year outfit discussions and movie mentions, including The Loved One alongside Jericho Rosales—resulting in a total of 190 posts.

Domingo noted that light, visual content such as photos, fashion moments, and celebrity milestones remains highly shareable and easy for audiences to react to.

Sports content ranked third overall with 243,019.4 ES, driven primarily by the Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) Finals and updates from the Premier Volleyball League (PVL), generating a total of 1,733 posts.

Global entertainment conversations centered on the Grammy Awards and the upcoming Grammys 2026, generating 73,693.5 ES during the monitoring period and accounting for a total of 745 posts.

The Artists frequently mentioned in discussions included Bad Bunny,Bruno Mars,Kendrick Lamar, Billie Eilish and Lady Gaga.

Domingo emphasized that the common thread among top-performing posts is clarity and immediacy.

“Whether it’s a storm advisory, a livestream reminder, or a championship graphic, the posts that trend fastest are the ones that quickly answer what people need to know or react to” she said.
